WHAT DO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS NEED TO DO TO STUDY IN TURKEY? What do foreign students need to do to study in Turkey? The following are the documents and application requirements for foreign students wishing to study in Turkey: 1. Student Visa: Foreign students who have successfully passed their exams and are eligible for university admission are sent a letter of admission by the university. Students abroad must obtain a student visa by applying to the Turkish Consulate with this letter of admission. Students in Turkey, on the other hand, can obtain a student visa from the Turkish Foreign Ministry. 2. Foreign students who want to study at a university in Turkey must obtain a residence permit. Residence permits are issued by the Immigration Administration in the cities where they reside. According to the relevant law, foreign students must obtain a residence permit within one (1) month after entering Turkey. The residence permit for foreign students is renewed every year. 3. Foreign students must fill out an application form for admission to the university to which they will be applying. 4. High School Diploma or equivalent education (certified by a foreign Turkish representation or notary and translated into Turkish) 5. Transcript (a document showing the names and transcripts of the subjects the student has completed in high school) Transcript must be certified by the school, notary or foreign mission and translated into Turkish. 6. Financial assurance letter: How the student will meet his/her financial needs upon arrival in Turkey, by whom or how expenses such as accommodation, transport, education) will be covered. 7. Registration Fee: If any, you must pay the registration fee of the university to which you are applying and confirm this with a receipt of payment. 8. Certificate of Language Proficiency: International students who are unable to obtain the required score in the language proficiency examinations take a language preparatory course for one (1) year. After these preparatory courses, students who have achieved language proficiency are eligible to enrol in faculty courses in university programmes. 9. The required score must be achieved in internationally recognised examinations such as the GCE, ACT, SAT, or the required score must be achieved in the examination for international students (YÖS). 10. The result of the YÖS exam must also be among the documents. Each university organises and conducts the YÖS exam independently.
